Leadership

Sara Rush
Principal

Dear Parents & Students,

I am the proud Principal of Oakcrest Intermediate.  I have been in a variety of secondary school roles since joining Tomball in 2013. I started as a Content Math Specialist before moving into campus administration. I spent four years as an Assistant Principal at Tomball Junior High before transitioning over to Creekside Park Junior High as Assistant Principal and then served as the Associate Principal over curriculum at Tomball High School. Prior to joining Tomball ISD, I spent time as a Director of Instruction Helping Teacher and as a classroom math teacher.

I earned my Bachelor's degree in Secondary Math Education from LSU (geaux tigers) and my Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Sam Houston State University.

My husband and I are both educators in Tomball and we are so proud to have our son attend Tomball schools. We are definitely a #teamtomball family.

Carmen Porras
Counselor
I’m Carmen Porras and I’ll be working with 5th grade students this school year. I was born and raised in Maracaibo, Venezuela where I earned my bachelor’s degree in business administration.  I became a teacher and a fan of the Houston Astros right after moving to Houston. I have been working in education for 20 years, serving as a teacher and counselor. I earned my Masters in School Counseling from the University of St. Thomas. In my spare time I enjoy traveling, cooking, watching movies and getting together with family and friends. I enjoy guiding students to foster their desire to learn, their autonomy in learning, and motivating them to become productive individuals to our society. I look forward to working with students, parents, teachers and administrators to contribute to the formation of our students.
