Dear Parents,
I am extremely ecstatic about being your child’s 5th grade U. S. History or Science teacher for the 2017-2018 school year. I have been a member of Tomball ISD since August 2008; nonetheless, I have a total of 20 years experience as a teacher. I have taught 11th grade AP & Regular Reading/ELA, 7th grade ELA/Writing, 2nd, 3rd & 4th grade self-contained.
I am a Spring 1996 Graduate from Texas A&M at College Station, and I earned a B. S. in Biomedical Science under the College of Veterinary. WHOOP! When I graduated, I was recruited to work a couple of semesters under the Department of Civil Engineering at Texas A&M doing research on Bioremediation & Hydrophobicity with civil and petroleum engineering graduate students.
Then, I applied to Peace Corps. where I served for 3 years in Chad & Cameroon, Central Africa. I was able to work on numerous projects concerning preventive health and water treatment. When I returned to my hometown of Rio Grande City, I earned my alternative teaching certification, and I began my work as a teacher at RGCCISD. I worked there for close to 10 years before moving to Spring, Texas.
After several years of teaching, I received a Masters in Bilingual Education & Principalship at the University of Texas at Pan American in Edinburg, Texas.
In 2008, I got contracted by TISD (TES) to work as a Dual Language teacher for 4th grade teaching self-contained; I have also taught as a self-contained 2nd grade Dual Language teacher.
I served as the Bilingual Reading/Dyslexia Specialist, as well as LPAC Coordinator for the Dual Language Program, at Tomball Elementary from 2014 to 2016.
Your child will truly enjoy being in my classroom this year. If you have any questions and concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you!
Estimados padres,
¡Muchisimas gracias!

Veteranś Day Wall of Fame

Oakcrest Intermediate School is proud to honor our U. S. Veterans and their families with a Wall of Honor that will be displayed in our main hallway. We want to salute our students’ parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and/or friends who have been or are currently serving in any U.S. military branch. Their stories are a vital part of our heritage and our country’s history. By allowing our students to share your heroes’ stories, we enlighten and enrich our students on what it means to honorably defend our countryś freedom and democratic values.

We hope to fill our Wall of Honor with scrapbook pages that include pictures and brief informative biographies of our student’s family members and/or friends who have gallantly and proudly served in our nation’s armed forces. Their brief biographies may include their military branch and final rank; how many years they served; what specific tasks they executed during their service; the different locations/countries they visited and served in; an interesting fact and heartfelt lesson they learned about themselves or the world while serving as a member of the military.

We ask that each individual display be no larger than 12X12 inches (average size of scrapbook paper).  Examples of the scrapbook displays are attached below. Your child may submit his or her veteran’s scrapbook display anytime between now and October 31, 2017 to his or her social studies teacher.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s social studies teacher.  We greatly appreciate your consideration and support in advance.
