Welcome to Oakcrest and Welcome to World Cultures!

This is my 14th year as a social studies teacher (10 years in Cy Fair ISD and starting my 4th year in Tomball ISD).  I love working in the Tomball community and I feel extremely fortunate to be working at Oakcrest Intermediate.

I received my Bachelors in Interdisciplinary Studies from SFASU and because history is a passion of mine, I earned my Masters (in Educational Leadership) from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia.

I cannot wait to see what this year offers!

Please do not hesitate to contact me.  You may call the school or email me :)

Africa PBL: Beauty from Hardship Museum Exhibit 2018

Students should be incredibly proud of their Africa PBL: Beauty from Hardship projects! Seeing their creativity, depth, complexity, and passion for their topics come alive was powerful! The Museum Exhibit was absolutely amazing! It will be on display in the library through next week if you are able to stop by to view the fabulous artwork.

Welcome Back!

Happy 2018!

I hope you had a fun and relaxing break! Thank you all so much for all the sweet well wishes that were sent my way...having the flu over Christmas break was no fun, but I got a lot of rest and I'm definitely recharged and ready to see my sweet students today!

We have an exciting new addition to our 6th grade World Cultures team, Mrs. Redding is joining us at OIS. She has many years of experience teaching 6th grade ELA and Geography, holds two masters degrees and served as a literacy coordinator. She is going to be an amazing addition to our school and the students will love her! Schedule changes come with the growth of our campus and, for me personally, it is always sad saying goodbye to any of my students. However, I know they are in great hands!

I can't wait for the learning we have in store this semester! We will wrap up our unit on South America, explore Europe, and learn about Southwest Asia and the Middle East during the third nine weeks.

Please make sure your child has the necessary supplies to be successful this semester. Students should have pencils, pens, erasers, glue sticks, colored pencils, extra fine point black Sharpie, scissors, and a small pencil sharpener in their pencil bag at all times.

The students will be selecting their #oneword2018 today in class. This is something that will guide them and help them reach their goals throughout the year. They will also be using a growth mindset to set their goals for the third nine weeks. Please ask your child about their goals and continue to encourage them so they are motivated to reach their full potential this year!

2018 is going to be a great year!
