No spelling or vocabulary this week

We will test over the CI words from last week, tomorrow, Monday, November 13.
No vocabulary this week. We will pick up on vocabulary after Thanksgiving Break.

SPELLING - We have spelling tests ever other week. I put the words up on Friday before by 4pm so that students can get the words and prep for the pre-test if they want to do so. The pre-test happens on Monday before the Friday test. It's a great way for kids to be able to check one thing off their list if they ace the pre-test, or run through the words once to see how they will do on the real deal. Grades are MUCH higher if I do a pre-test on Monday. Students who earn a 90 are exempt from homework and the test. Spelling and vocab together account for 6% of a student's writing average. If they earn a 90 and re-take it and earn a 95 or 100, it would not affect their overall average. The win-win would be to not have to study spelling for the week and focus on other classes.

VOCABULARY - We have vocabulary on the weeks in between spelling. One week words will come from our read aloud so we can discuss as we encounter them in class. We also do Quizlet in class to prepare and students can use it at home. The second week of vocab are words with a common affix.
