Meet Mrs. English

Hello Wildcats! My name is Jennifer English and I am teaching 6th grade Language Arts at Oakcrest Intermediate this year. I am so excited to be at Oakcrest and helping you to become AMAZING readers and writers.
This will be my 14th year of teaching (my how time flies) English Language Arts. I started my career teaching 8th grade in Yuma, Arizona. Then I returned to my home state of Texas and spent 7 years at Cy-Ridge High School teaching reading intervention classes. After that, I decided to teach where my three teenagers were attending high school, Magnolia West. After they graduated, I spent some time in the elementary world teaching 4th grade, and now I am starting my second year at Oakcrest.
Even though I was born in Chicago, Illinois, I moved to Texas as soon as I could (age 1). I grew up in Cypress,Texas and graduated from Cy-Fair High School. I received my BA in English at Sam Houston State University (Eat em' up Kats!) I have always wanted to be a teacher, and I thoroughly enjoy spending my time helping students be successful.
My husband and I have 5 children, two still young enough to be in school (6th grade and 1st grade). We love to travel, play music (well, everyone but me is musical) and spend time with our friends and family.
I am looking forward to a great year ahead!
