The Final Countdown
These next three weeks of December will be jammed packed. We have a Unit 6 test this Thursday and Friday, the students will take home a review tomorrow. The test will be over changes to the surface of the Earth.
We also have a Benchmark next week starting on the 10th.
The last week of school, we will have a half day on the 20th.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Unit 4 test will be on electrical and sound energy, it's this FRIDAY. I will be sending a review home soon.
I have also sent HW home, this will be due on Friday.
Also, we will be having a SCIENCE FAIR on December 11. I have posted a Google Form on their Google Classroom for the students that are interested, they will have to fill that out.
Please refer to the newly added Science Fair tab for more information.
We will have a Refraction vs Reflection Checkpoint on Wednesday. We will also have our final test of the first nine weeks next TUESDAY 10/8.
I have uploaded the review for the test on WEDNESDAY. I will give the students a hard copy on Monday. But here's the link if you'd like your child to get started early.
I have posted the grades for the Physical Properties and Magnetism Checkpoint. The students were able to use their notes. Checkpoints are daily grades and it gives me the data to assess where your child is and if he/she is understanding the concept. Eventually, I will have them do checkpoints without their notes, so they can build that rigor of studying for tests and quizzes.
Their Unit 2 test will be on Sept 17. Their INB is a great reference tool for studying. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
Their test will be over the physical properties of matter.
It's a GREAT first week!
Your child will be taking home their Lab Safety Contract to be signed and returned on Monday. Homework consists of studying for the Lab Safety test that will be on Tuesday. Their Lab Safety guidelines are posted in their INB, it's the green sheet. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions!
Whatever It Takes
The kids are ready to take the Science STAAR test TOMORROW. They've been preparing as best as they can and in the end, they'll do whatever it takes to put in their effort and their minds to work.
THIS WEEK ONLY
We will have tutoring this WEDNESDAY instead of Tues/Thur. Please have transportation available for your child since we DON'T have late buses on Wednesdays.
The reason behind this is because we have a Robotics Showcase that will interfere with scheduling.
Thanks for understanding! Please note that students are always welcome to come for morning tutoring.
It's the final countdown...
I do apologize for being M.I.A these couple of weeks, it's been really busy. I do want to announce that I'll be starting STAAR tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays up until the week of the Science STAAR. Tutoring will be from 3:20-4:20. We will review units as well as do some practice STAAR questions. The Science STAAR will be on May 15th.
The students have been working on Fossil Fuels notes and a Webquest during class. These are found in their Google Classroom. Some of the students did not finish, so it has turned into homework. I wanted to inform you so you know that they will be coming home with some assignments today to prepare for Thursday's test.
I am pleased to begin a fresh new semester with your child. We are picking up where we left off, the kids are reviewing Fossil Fuels. We have a unit test this Thursday.
I will begin tutoring on Mondays starting February 4th, after school, for your child's convenience. Please let me know if you have any questions!
We will have our Unit 6/7 test this Thursday. Please ask your child what the process of lithification consists of (they should say compaction/cementation), also ask what compaction and cementation does to sedimentary rocks. For further practice, please ask them to give you examples of weathering, erosion deposition that are happening outside of school.
The students will be taking their FALL CBA on Tuesday/Wednesday.
Test on Thursday 10/25
Please take advantage of the resources posted on Google Classroom. Please study for the test. Some key points to know:
- Sound energy requires vibrations
- Mediums are states of matter
- Electrical energy is used to power up
- Conductors let electrical energy pass through (metals)
- Insulators don't let electrical energy pass through (plastic, rubber, wood)
- Know the difference between open and closed circuits
- Know the flow of the path of electricity
- Know the difference between simple, series and parallel circuits
Test will be this week, please study the key for sound and electrical energy
