Homework
6th Grade Pre-AP math will sometimes have homework.
The design for homework is:
1.  Prepare a plan with the team to Divide and Conquer the work.
2.  Work collaboratively with a small group to accomplish a task and present findings.
3.  In solving problems, look for "TRAP DOOR" answers and be able to discuss the answers that are NOT REASONABLE.
4.  Promote test taking strategies and seeking why answers should never be chosen.
5.  Promote higher order critical thinking, in being able to bring back a completed project and explain problem solving tactics used.
6.  Team members must use higher order critical thinking to evaluate an answer's reasonableness without computations made but only using estimation for number sense solutions that are correct.

HOW CAN YOU AS A PARENT HELP YOUR CHILD WITH HOMEWORK?
As a parent- teacher "team unit" I appreciate any and all help to make sure that you are checking in with your child daily to ask them to summarize about their homework:

Questions like:
1. Which problem was easiest for you tonight and why?
2. Which problem was the hardest?
3. Was there any problem that you could not understand at all?
4. Can you or did you try and use your textbook math coach, textbook video, or Khan video to help you?
5. Is there someone you can call or text to ask for help?
6. What other places have you seen math like this around you?

Students Math textbook has on-line videos and a personalized math coach that can help you whenever you need extra practice.

The Khan video and tutoring sessions are wonderful reinforcement for our learning.
